HOW TO WEAR A MILITARY JACKET
DO YOU HAVE CLOTHES THAT ARE JUST SITTING IN YOUR CLOSET WAITING TO BE WORN? I HAVE THIS MILITARY JACKET THAT HAS JUST BEEN SITTING AROUND. IN THIS ARTICLE I WILL GIVE YOU TIPS ON HOW TO STYLE A MILITARY JACKET.
What's up y'all?! Do you have clothes in your closet that you've never worn or only worn once and forgot about it? Well, that's me every. single. day. I used to buy clothing non-stop until wifey put her foot down (lol). I guess I took the shopping thing a little too far *evil grin*. Anyway, lets get back to the topic at hand, styling a military jacket. I purchased this military jacket from J.Crew a couple years back and haven't quite put it to use the way I should have, so I decided that I would bring it back to life.
I could have easily just decided to where a pair of dark denim and a brown boot, but thats not the way this outfit is going down today. I mean, why be basic when you can stand out? I am going to break down the components of this look in hopes that you'll be inspired to grab that military jacket you had sitting around and wear it like a suit of armor.
Purple and green often pair well together, so I grabbed my purple ripped jeans from asos and got to work. I had a DIY project on my hands because the pants were super long, but I am glad I did because the purple jeans add the right pop of color to the outfit.
When selecting my shirt, I had to channel my inner Bill Belichick and go with an oversized pullover tee shirt. I chose charcoal grey to break up the green a purple tones; pulling the look together in a cohesive way.
I decided to give my lace up boots a break and picked up a pair of light grey chelsea boots. The pastel purple really compliments the grey, in my opinion. Lets take a moment to recognize the nice touch the pop of brown provided to this look, too.
Not only does the outfit make me feel great but it fits well too!

WALK WITH LOCALS HOSTED A SPECIAL WALK WHERE THEY COLLABORATED WITH KODAK CAMERA CLUB, 202FILMCOLLECTIVE, AND COMPASS COFFEE DC. PHOTOGRAPHERS HIT THE STREETS OF SHAW AND ENJOYED SHOOTING AT A SKATE PARK. HERE'S THE RECAP!
I think I am officially beat. This weekend was action packed for me. I participated in two photowalks and met so many amazing people. Walk With Locals hosted a special walk where they collaborated with Compass Coffee DC, Kodak Camera Club, and 202filmcollective. We had the chance to enjoy some coffee, meet the founders of Compass Coffee DC, and learn about the Kodak Camera Club and 202filmcollective, respectively.
About compass Coffee
Compass Coffee DC is located at 1535 7th St NW, Washington, DC 20001 in the SHAW neighborhood. The two co-founders are ex-marines and gained the inspiration to create their own brews based on their travels around the world. Their origin brews are sourced from Guatemala, Indonesia, Kona and other spots around the globe. Not only does the menu offer origin brews, but you'll find sandwich and pastry options. May I add that most of the sandwiches and pastries that they offer are sourced locally! At the moment their are 7 other locations scattered around the city, with plans to open more locations in the near future. Most of their locations open anywhere from 5:30am-9pm. (hours vary by location) Compass Coffee DC is your one stop shop to catch a cup of coffee, enjoy some pastries, and get some work done in their spacious locations.

To start the walk, we exitied Compass Coffee and made a left. After a couple of right turns we ended up at a cool mini skate park. The photographers wasted no time getting to work, executing on visions, and conversing with other photographers. My goal was to capture the faces of DC, so I focused on portrait shots.
I love getting involved with these walks because it forces me to work outside of my comfort zone. I am very observant and do not tend to engage in conversation with people I do not know easily. On these walks, the people make it so easy to jump in and join the convo. The walk organizers strongly encourage that you walk with people that are not your friends. Get used to the random taps on the shoulder and people grabbing you to take pics. I love all of it!
Oh yeah, I forgot. I think I am going to get into film photography based on some conversations I've had with the film community. 202filmcollective will be hearing from me soon!

STREET MEET DC EASTERN MARKET
HAVE YOU BEEN LOOKING TO JOIN AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY OF PHOTOGRAPHERS IN DC? HERE'S THE RECAP OF OUR VISIT TO EASTERN MARKET IN DC. THIS ECLECTIC AREA HAD A LOT OF AMAZING SCENERY FOR A PHOTOGRAPHERS LIKING.
Shoutout to the organizers for choosing this dope location for the second Street Meet DC photowalk of 2018. Surprisingly, I've never been to the Eastern Market before. All I could do is keep telling everyone around me how fire this location is. I was ready to put my photographer eye to work and take advantage of the dope models and great scenery. It was raining quite a bit, but it helped produce some great lighting to capture my images.
About Eastern Market
Eastern Market can be easily accessed off of the blue, orange or silver Metro train line. The historic market is located at 225 7th St SE, Washington, DC 20003. Here you'll find a lively landmark for local food and crafts. The neighborhood is absolutely amazing with colorful townhouses. It is nestled in the heart of Capitol Hill. So, if you want to enjoy crafts and food, Eastern Market is the place to be.

WHAT TO WEAR TO MAINE
ARE YOU WONDERING WHAT YOU SHOULD WEAR WHEN TRAVELING TO MAINE THIS WINTER? IF SO, THIS ARTICLE WILL GIVE YOU TIPS ON HOW TO STYLE YOURSELF DURING YOUR STAY IN MAINE.
Traveling is important to me so I set a personal goal to visit all 50 states before it's all said and done. As I was preparing for my first trip to Maine, all I could think about was cold winters, an abundance of green landscape, fishing boats, and (of course) what I was going to wear.
Once I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the weather. Don't get me wrong, it was cold but not nearly as brutal as I expected.
This look is what I call the modern day lumberjack man. The pieces from this outfit fit slimmer than your traditional lumberjack outfit. The red checkered flannel shirt, that we have grown to know, got the boot and this bright teal flannel took its place. There are a few subtle touches that help complete this look, such as the marled grey turtleneck sweater, navy quilted puffer vest, and charcoal grey beanie cap.
You'll definitely want to wear boots if you're visiting during late winter because it will be icy. Luckily, I didn't fall once. (The boots in the image above are "The Viking Boots" by Taft)
Opting for a pair of dark denim or black ripped jeans will allow the bright flannel shirt to really shine and bring the entire look together.
Let's face it, you're going to be dealing with a lot of snow if you're visiting Maine in the late winter. So, if you're going to take on the snowy weather, you might as well do it in style. Remember that all of the tips I am giving you are just a reference point. Feel free to remix the outfit however you see fit and create a look that speaks to your personal style because that's what really counts.
I hope that you all get the chance to visit Maine because it is truly a beautiful state and the people there are super laid back.

Kenricka and I took a quick trip to Portland, Maine to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We lodged in a really cool Airbnb location. Our host had a notebook where previous guests could enter places that they visited during their stay. A lot of them kept recommending Silly’s Restaurant, so we decided to give it a try.
We were pleasantly surprised by Silly’s Restaurant because from the outside it looked like a home converted into a restaurant, but it was much more. We were greeted by a host of servers and eclectic aesthetic.
The food selection catered to individuals that eat meat and vegetarians. Below you'll find the food and drink selections that we made!

N-P-ELLIOT BRINGS A VIBRANT COLLECTION FOR THE FALL. THIS COLLECTION HAS EVOLVED FROM THE COLLECTION THAT WE HAVE SEEN FROM THEM IN THE PAST. I GET THE FEEL THAT THE 90'S FASHION IS MAKING A COME BACK!
Runway Show: N-p-Elliott
Designer Nicholas P. Elliott’s debut his fall collection at New York Fashion Week, which is inspired by his Scottish heritage. It featured models wearing an array of tartan plaids, flared trousers made from tweed, kilts, and cropped jackets. The collection was visibly pleasing on the spectators eyes. His use of vibrant colors was a pleasant surprise. Elliot takes pride in using unique textiles, attention to detail, and creating bold statement pieces.
You'll see how he inserted youthful graphics into the line with Elliott Sport. His father owned a sports store in Scotland with that name. Elliot mixed futuristic and old school vibes through his use of asymmetrical lines which lined many of the designers outfits.
What really stands out is that the whole collection was designed and produced in New York City. In a time where transparency is key, the brand positions itself as ethically made, adhering to national standards. This will strike a cord with consious consumers.
What to Expect: N-p-Elliot brings a vibrant collection for the fall. This collection has evolved from the collection that we have seen from them in the past. I get the feel that the 90's fashion is making a come back!
KRAMMER & STOUDT MEN’S FALL WINTER 2018 NYFWM
KRAMMER & STOUDT PUTS ON A SHOW WITH THEIR GENDERLESS CAST THEME. FALL/WINTER 2018 COLLECTION.
PRESENTATION: The designers of Krammer & Stoudt put on a excellent presentation with a genderless cast theme. Classic workwear pieces such as a shrunken shearling jacket, an M-65 shell jacket and wide-wale corduroy pleated pants were done up on a gender-fluid cast of models.
WHAT TO EXPECT: This season shows off inventive styling and with their unique casting, the collection showed a medium between street and heritage.

PRESENTATION: David Hart
Designer David Hart shook up this season's collection by taking a fresh new approach. Hart has been known for his distinct take on fifties tailor Americana. This collection is inspired by the massive amount of America brands leaving New York to show in Paris. He unleashed an array of models dressed in wearing striped sweaters, striped tee shirts, paint spattered jeans, colorful berets, and pajamas. Also, they could be seen wearing pins that read "Ugly Américain" , "French Kiss Me I'm American", and "Chic American" . There was a bit of a digital touch where some of the sweatpants had #DavidHart and #NYFWParis printed on the leg.
WHAT TO EXPECT: You'll see the designer take on American youth abroad in Paris. the collection will be sure to catch a lot of attention with a host of vibrant colors, unique designs, and youthful touch. I guess it's time to learn a little French "Ugly Américain".

SuitSupply brought that heat for their fall/winter 2018 collection. they unveiled a collection that was nothing short of dapper, draped in elegance, and versatile.
Suitsupply's execution of the earth-tone color palete was flawless. just to give you flavor, you'll find tones such as camel, sand, shades of brown, and pale pinks. it looks like my next house has to come with a huge walk-in closet for this collection.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Suitsupply did not fail to please my style cravings. you'll find exactly what you need to look your best with the wide array of styles and textiles that they offer. I can't believe that we are almost through the first month of 2018. There's been so many great things happening in DC. Street Meet DC held their first meet of the year on U street. The turn out was amazing with over one hundred individuals coming out to support the movement. I personally enjoy the meets because it gives me an opportunity to hone in on my photography skills as well as learn from my fellow photographers from the DMV area.
The U Street neighborhood can be described as vibrant, eclectic, and exciting. It is rich in history, diversity, and music-filled. There are so many historical landmarks that surround U street, a few being the Howard Theater, Howard University, 14th St Corridor, and the SHAW neighborhood. You can access the heart of U Street through the green kine on the metro. Let me tell you that there is no shortage of food and music options over there. U street has you covered whether you want Italian or soul food, and you can't forget Ben's Chili Bowl. You'll find a few international eateries as well!

I received a major upgrade to my sneaker collection this Father’s Day. Taft posted photos of their upcoming releases, which featured a Jawbreaker inspired lace up sneaker. If you know me, then you know that I love unique sneakers such as the Jawbreakers. I commented on Taft’s Instagram page about the shoe and how much I loved them, and I guess my wife caught wind of it. Long story short, I opened a package on Father’s Day and here they are! I have my own pair of The Jawbreakers.
The Jawbreaker sports an Italian sole, Italian wool upper, and 360 stitching. They fit true to size, so no need trying to figure out what size to get.
If you are thinking about copping these sneakers, I would highly recommend them. They will add flavor to your shoe collection and turn heads wherever you go. I personally love the speckle of colors throughout the sneakers and low top cut.
Quick summertime styling tips for The Jawbreaker

If you don't know about the Taft Jack Boot in Calico then you need to become familiar. This particular Jack Boot is one of the most sought after pairs of Taft Boots. If you missed the preorder period, that is it folks, these will not be stocked again. I had the opportunity to catch up with Kory Stevens, who is one-half of the founder duo at Taft. Being curious in nature, I wanted to know how the Calico Boot came to be. Well here's what Kory had to say!
" I went to the factory late last year and I happened to be there for a really big textile fair. It was there that I found this wool with amazing texture and detail. Never seen wool like this before so I knew I had to get it."
"I got the textile sample and ended up designing the Calico Boot for myself. I loved it, but I knew it would be super polarizing and not sure how anyone would react to it. I just designed it for myself an planned on keeping it just for me."
